Bentley's Training

Meet Bentley the Bichon/Maltese at 2 months old when we brought him home.

A day at the park to attempt to make the puppy sleep!

Who doesn't have a Build a Bear Teddy Bear. I'm the type of person that will steal the Teddy Bears Sweater And put it on my Puppy! Can you say too cute!

After a couple weeks Bentley finally got use to the leash!

Bentley is now finally all Trained! Can you say thank GOD!! While having a puppy is cute and mostly entertaining i must break some news to you. It's a lot of Work. A lot of my friends are now getting puppies and asking me, "How did you do it?" "Where did you go to get him trained?" Well if you don't  have the extra money to spend on going to Pets Smart, to get them to train your puppy, your left with being the trainer.

So Here are some tips about training him to go pee.

1. In order to effectively train your puppy, your gunna need time. So take a couple days off work and make those days all about the puppy.

2. Purchase some Puppy Pee pads from your local pet store. This is what your going to initially train him on. Puppies have NO BLATTER. Let him pee on the pad, you can keep a couple pees on the pad. Once he pees on the pad, make a big deal about it! Lots of good boy Bentley!! Give him a little treat so he knows he was a good boy. Do this every time, be consistent. At first you are going to have to run and pick him up and put him on the pee pad. He needs to know that's where he needs to pee, not on your floor.

3. Limit the area that you allow your puppy to go. Don't give him the whole house to run around. When he needs to go pee he needs to be close to the pee pad. If you allow him a big space he's not going to know where it is. I put out two pee pads for training. Also your going to have to watch when he drinks water. A couple minutes later he will need to go. So automatically put him on the pee pad. Tell him to go pee.

4. Once he has mastered the pee pad your next step is to master outside. This is a big step! I did this after a couple days. If your spending the time it only takes a couple days. Dogs need the scent outside to go pee. So this may sound gross but it works and you only have to do it a couple times. Take a napkin or a paper towel and soak it in the puppy's pee... (prob from him peeing on your floor). When you take your puppy outside Get him to smell it. He will then go on the grass! Once that is successful once again make a big deal, say good boy or girl, and give him a treat! My puppy is now 6 months old and whines at the door when he needs to go outside! Which is awesome cause i don't have a backyard and have to put him on a leash every time. I found its better if you walk him a little down the street to go pee, instead of you standing there to wait for him to go pee.
